Instagram recently launched a “You’re All Caught Up” feature that lets users avoid FOMO and know they haven’t missed any posts from friends, family members or their favorite brands or celebrities.
“We’ve heard that it can be difficult to keep track of your seen posts. With this message, you’ll have a better understanding of your Feed and know you haven’t missed anything,” reads an Instagram statement.
The feature places unseen posts “above the fold,” so to speak, and seen and older posts below the notification.
“You’ll find posts that you’ve already viewed as well as posts that are older than two days below the ‘You’re All Caught Up’ message.”
Some say the feature encourages people to put their phone down more often than they would otherwise or prompts users to jump to other parts of the app, like the content found under the search tab (the icon that looks like a magnifying glass).
