Remember the good old days when your family piled on the couch to watch your favorite show?
Any Facebook marketer worth his or her salt knows that video (especially live video) gains much higher engagement levels than plain text posts, but now Facebook is taking it to a whole new level with Watch Party.
The new feature allows Facebook groups to watch together at the same time. With the new feature, users can chat, add comments and include reactions in the same way as other video posts.
Facebook says it is even expanding to test Watch Party for Pages and friends outside of Groups.
“We believe that if people can start a Watch Party directly from their profile or from a video they’re watching, the experience of watching video on Facebook can become even more fun and social,” says Erin Connolly, a Facebook Product Manager.
Digital Trends explains that “With the feature out of testing, Watch Party also gains two new tools. Co-hosting allows the Group administrator to designate other members that can start a Watch Party, while crowdsourcing allows Group members to suggest a video for a Watch Party.”
